Studio Policies
Tuition Tuition is divided into equal monthly payments so the monthly cost will always be the same, whether there are 2 (June only), 3, 4, or 5 classes in any given month. All holidays and breaks are factored into the total cost of the class. Tuition is due by the 1st of each month. After the 10th a late charge of $10.00 will be applied to your account, if payment has not been received. We do accept multiple monthly payments if you wish to pay your tuition in advanced or in full.
Dress Requirements Proper dress attire is an essential part of a student's development, as it enables them to participate fully in class while maintaining a disciplined attitude towards studies. Instructors can also properly monitor student's postural alignment and placement. No street clothes will be worn during class (with the exception of Hip Hop students). See "Classes" section for dress details pertaining to dance style.
Class Placement All students will be placed in classes appropriate for their age and ability. A student can progress to the next level by demonstrating mastery of proper technique and knowledge of terminology. Advancement in levels will be at the discretion of the instructor.
Arrival/Attendance All students should arrive 5-10 minutes early and be dressed for class (including hair. Not only do late arrivals disrupt class but, more importantly, lack of proper warm up time may cause injuries. Regular attendance is necessary to ensure a student's progress.
Insurance All students must be covered by their own insurance policies. In the event of an injury, it is clear that the student's own policy is the only source of reimbursement.
Absences If a class must be missed due to illness, students are encouraged to make up the absence at any regularly scheduled class of the same level. Please call the studio if your child is sick or will be gone. There will be no credits or refunds for missed classes.
Private Lessons Private lessons are available for students interested in one-on-one training. The rate is $35 per hour or $25 per half hour and may be scheduled with the instructor or office. For details regarding tuition, refer to the Registration Form.
Recital Each year Dance Arts puts on a recital in June. Each class has the opportunity to perform on stage and in costume at a professional theater. Participation in this show is not mandatory, but students are encouraged to do so. All students who participate are required to purchase a costume...a $30 deposit (for each class student is enrolled in) will be due in November. Balance will be due in January.
Studio Closures Click on "Important Dates" to view scheduled breaks and holidays. It is our policy to close the studio when the Tahoma School District is closed due to weather conditions. Call the studio for recorded information. If class is cancelled, students will be allowed to take a make up class in any regularly scheduled class of similar age and level, or a make up class will be arranged.
